Dirtside II: TransCanopus Campaign Vehicles

TransCanopus was an original Traveller/Striker campaign background (circa 1980) that was never completed enough for actual play. Only scattered fragments survive from that period; these are Dirtside II adaptations of two of those fragments -- Striker armored grav vehicle designs:

"Flying Turret" Grav Tank:

MEDIUM vehicle (class 3), GRAV mobility, FGP powerplant, Armour 3.
1xIFG/5 in hull with SUPERIOR FireCon; 1xMDC/1 in turret; 1xAPSW.
ENHANCED ECM, BASIC PDS, Stealth-1.
Basic Signature 3; Effective Signature 2 (D10).
POINTS VALUE 298.

A disk-shaped turretless tank with the main gun in a "snout" and the secondary LRF Gaussgun in a small turret on top, intended to take advantage of a grav vehicle's ability to slew in flight. The main IFG/5 has an actual traverse of 90° (45° each side of line-of-flight).

Thylacine APC:

MEDIUM vehicle (class 3), GRAV mobility, FGP powerplant, Armour 3.
1xMDC/1 in turret with SUPERIOR FireCon; 1xGMS/H in hull (ENHANCED guidance); 1xAPSW.
ENHANCED ECM, Stealth-1, capacity for 2 infantry stands.
Basic Signature 3; Effective Signature 2 (D10).
POINTS VALUE 189 (plus cost of infantry carried).

Angular grav APC with a pointed nose; four GMS/H rounds are carried in flip-up launch boxes on the sides of the vehicle, two per side; the LRF Gaussgun turret is the same type used for the grav tank's secondary weapon. Infantry would be 2 LINE-equipped stands; as a matter of doctrine, power armor was reserved for Jump Troops.

Reconstructed TO&E:

TO&E is unknown at this late date, except that platoons were probably three vehicles and a company was probably two platoons of one type and one of the other.
