From the Editor
I hoped “out loud” that I’d be able to get back on the normal schedule for this month; I should have realized that that was guaranteed to invoke Murphy… Apologies are extended.
A couple of people have sent me queries about the prices that I print in reviews. Those numbers generally come from DriveThruRPG, at the time that I’m ‘pouring’ the review into the magazine ‘master’, and as near as I can tell, DTRPG’s “anchor” is the price in US$, even if the product is uploaded with a price set in some other currency – the price in UK£ (or any other supported currency) seems to fluctuate based on exchange rates at whatever time DTRPG last updated them. If you see reviews for two products that have the same US$ price but different UK£ prices, it just means that I looked up the respective prices at two different times. If you go to DTRPG and purchase them as part of the same order, you’ll pay the same price for each, even if you’re paying in a currency other than US$.
As usual, “please write”, as every section of the magazine can use some love. However, when you do, please use an address that I can reach you at; some would-be authors have used privacy-protecting services, didn’t include alternate addresses, and when I sent back a query about the submission, the provider reported that the address didn’t exist.
Finally, as the topic has been inquired about again: Freelance Traveller doesn’t object to the use of AI in material, but we expect that all such use will be acknowledged (including naming the AI that was used), and that textual material will not be submitted without serious editing by the submitter, unless the point of the article is specifically and explicitly to showcase the use of AI. When used for art generation (such as for the cover and for the Electron sports car, in this issue), we’d like to know the prompt you used, but don’t require it. We view AI as a legitimate tool for creators to use, but not as a replacement for your own effort.
